Planning for a big event? Whether it’s a wedding, birthday, photoshoot, or an important night out, you want your skin to look its absolute best. The key to a flawless, glowing complexion isn’t just makeup—it’s proper skincare preparation. In this guide, we’ll walk you through the ultimate pre-event skincare timeline, expert esthetician tips, and product recommendations to ensure you have smooth, radiant skin on the big day.
Why Pre-Event Skincare Matters
Your skin’s appearance is a direct reflection of how well you care for it in the days leading up to an event. Last-minute breakouts, dry patches, or dullness can often be avoided with the right skincare regimen. A proper routine:
✔ Hydrates and plumps the skin for a healthy glow
✔ Minimizes redness, irritation, and breakouts
✔ Creates a smooth base for flawless makeup application
✔ Boosts skin’s natural radiance and elasticity
The Ultimate Pre-Event Skincare Timeline
1 Month Before: Deep Skin Prep Begins
At least four weeks before your event, it’s time to focus on deep treatments and consistency.
Schedule a Professional Facial – A customized facial (hydrating, brightening, or acne-focused) will help deeply cleanse, exfoliate, and rejuvenate your skin. We suggest our Healthy Glow Facial perfect for deep cleansing, exfoliating dead skin cells and clearing out clogged pores with extractions.
Start Using Targeted Skincare Ingredients – Incorporate ingredients like:
Vitamin C for brightening
Hyaluronic Acid for hydration
Retinol (if already part of your routine) for anti-aging
Hydrate Inside and Out – Drink at least 8 glasses of water daily and use a rich moisturizer.
Minimize Sugar and Dairy – These can trigger breakouts, so cutting back may help.

We suggest our Healthy Glow Facial perfect for deep cleansing, exfoliating dead skin cells and clearing out clogged pores with extractions.
1 Week Before: Enhance Your Glow
With your event around the corner, your focus should be on gentle exfoliation, hydration, and avoiding new products.
Use a Hydrating Face Mask – Sheet masks or overnight masks with hyaluronic acid will plump and refresh your skin. Try Neutrogena’s Moisturizing Hydro Boost Hydrating Face Mask
Exfoliate (Gently!) – If your skin can tolerate it, use a mild exfoliant (AHA/BHA) to remove dead skin cells and boost radiance.
Avoid Harsh Treatments – Skip strong peels, lasers, or new products that could irritate your skin. If you’re thinking about getting a Chemical Peel, we’d suggest getting one at least 30 days before your big event. That’ll give your skin time to fully peel.
Get Plenty of Sleep – Lack of rest can lead to dull, tired skin and under-eye puffiness.
2-3 Days Before: Keep It Simple
This is the time to let your skin rest and stay hydrated.
Moisturize Like Crazy – Use a deeply nourishing moisturizer to lock in hydration. We love Belif The True Cream Aqua Bomb with Hyaluronic Acid and Niacinamide
Skip Heavy Makeup – Allow your skin to breathe to prevent breakouts. If you just have to wear makeup try skipping the foundation and stick to concealer, brows, mascara/lashes, bronzer and a little powder.
Reduce Puffiness – Use chilled eye patches or a jade roller to depuff the skin. We love the Skinny Confidential’s Ice Roller and Topicals Faded Under Eye Brightening & Clearing Eye Masks
Avoid Salty Foods & Alcohol – These can cause bloating and skin dehydration. If you’re going to drink alcohol (after all it is your big day 🥳) stick to low calorie drinks like shots of Tequila (around 97 calories per 1.5 ounce) or Champagne (around 100 calories per 6 oz glass) Avoid the sugary mixed drinks.
The Night Before: Final Skin Boost
Do a Gentle Exfoliation – Light exfoliation will create a smooth canvas for makeup. This one from Dermalogica is gentle enough to use on a regular basis.
Apply an Overnight Hydrating Mask – Seals in moisture for a radiant, plump complexion. We recommend this one from Glow Recipe. If you have sensitive skin we like this on from Youth to the People Superberry Hydrate + Glow Dream Night Cream + Mask with Vitamin C
Get 7-9 Hours of Sleep – Get your rest girl! 😴
Event Day: Glow Time!
Wash Your Face with a Gentle Cleanser – Avoid anything harsh that could cause redness. No need to buy an expensive cleanser, CeraVe and Cetaphil will work just fine.
Use a Lightweight Moisturizer – Hydrated skin = better makeup application. Want a two for one? Try this one below 👇
Apply SPF (If It’s a Day Event) – Protect your skin without a heavy formula. We can’t get enough of this one from Beauty Strike. It acts as a moisturizer and SPF so no need to add a moisturizer with this one. Worried about the dreaded white cast? That’s no issue with this SPF.
Use a Hydrating Primer – A good primer helps makeup stay smooth and last longer. We love this one from Bobbi Brown, it has Vitamin C + Hyaluronic Acid so it going to be super moisturizing. Another great option is this one from Milk Makeup, it has Hyaluronic Acid + Niacinamide for added hydration.
Bonus Tips for a Long-Lasting Glow
✨ Drink plenty of water throughout the day to keep your skin hydrated. Don’t like drinking plain water? Try adding a lemon slice or Liquid IV Hydration Multiplier to your water. Side note: Liquid IV also helps with hangovers too! Don’t ask us how we know, just trust us on this one 😉
✨ Blot, don’t over-powder to maintain a fresh, natural glow. You can’t go wrong with these from Fenty Beauty, or these from Tatcha.
✨ Use a setting spray with hydrating ingredients to keep your makeup in place. We love this one from Morphe, your makeup will literally stay on all day! If you’re more on the oily side try this one from One/Size. Its mattifying, and your makeup isn’t going anywhere!
Final Thoughts
The secret to glowing, event-ready skin isn’t just about makeup—it’s about intentional skincare preparation. By following this timeline and prioritizing hydration, exfoliation, and professional treatments, your skin will look refreshed, radiant, and flawless on your big day.

The Ultimate Guide to Achieving Healthy, Glowing Skin
Who doesn’t want glowing, radiant skin? Achieving a naturally healthy complexion goes beyond just using expensive skincare products—it’s about consistency, the right ingredients, and healthy habits. Whether you struggle with dryness, dullness, or breakouts, this guide will walk you through everything you need to know to achieve that coveted glow.
Step 1: Understand Your Skin Type
Before jumping into a skincare routine, it’s essential to know your skin type. Using the wrong products can do more harm than good.
Oily Skin – Produces excess oil, often leading to breakouts and enlarged pores.
Dry Skin – Lacks moisture, feels tight, and may have flaky patches.
Combination Skin – Oily in some areas (usually the T-zone) and dry in others.
Sensitive Skin – Easily irritated by products, weather, or lifestyle changes.
Normal Skin – Well-balanced with minimal concerns.
🔹 Tip: If you're unsure about your skin type, consult an esthetician for a professional assessment.
Step 2: Build the Perfect Skincare Routine
A well-structured skincare routine is key to achieving and maintaining glowing skin.
Morning Routine (Protect & Hydrate)
Gentle Cleanser – Removes overnight oil buildup.
Hydrating Toner – Balances skin and preps it for the next steps. A great toner to have is this one from Beauty Strike, great for sensitive skin as well.
Vitamin C Serum – Brightens and protects against free radicals. Everyone should have a Vitamin C serum in their line up.
Moisturizer – Locks in hydration (choose lightweight for oily skin, rich for dry skin). A great moisturizer to have is this one from Clinique.
Sunscreen (SPF 30+) – The most important step to prevent premature aging and damage. We love this one from Beauty Strike. It works on all skin tones without leaving a white cast, plus it has an SPF of 50!
Don’t Skip Sunscreen!
It only takes 3-5 seconds to apply. Trust us your skin will thank you!
Evening Routine (Repair & Rejuvenate)
Double Cleansing – First, remove makeup with an oil cleanser; then wash with a gentle cleanser. Even if you have oily skin you can still use an oil cleanser first.
Exfoliation (2-3 times per week) – Helps shed dead skin cells and unclog pores.
Treatment Serum – Depending on your needs: retinol (anti-aging), niacinamide (oil control), or hyaluronic acid (hydration).
Moisturizer or Overnight Mask – Nourishes and repairs skin overnight.
🔹 Tip: Stick to your routine consistently—results don’t happen overnight!
Step 3: Power Ingredients for Radiant Skin
Knowing which ingredients work best for your skin can make all the difference.
✔ Hyaluronic Acid – Hydrates and plumps skin. We like this one from Skin Script.
✔ Vitamin C – Brightens and evens skin tone. We recommend this one from Beauty Strike as well as this one from Circadia.
✔ Niacinamide – Reduces redness and regulates oil production. We like this one from Beauty Strike.
✔ Retinol – Increases cell turnover for smoother, younger-looking skin. We recommend this one from SkinBetter, but if you’re looking for a more affordable option we like this one from Paula’s Choice too!
✔ Ceramides – Strengthen the skin barrier and prevent moisture loss. We like this one from Circadia.
🔹 Tip: Introduce new ingredients gradually to avoid irritation.
When trying new serums take it slow, use one serum at a time to see how your skin reacts. If irritation occurs stop using the product immediately.
No irritation? Perfect, now you can start building or “stacking'“ your serums.
Step 4: Healthy Lifestyle Habits for Glowing Skin
Your skin reflects your overall health, so don’t underestimate the impact of lifestyle choices.
🫗 Drink Plenty of Water – Hydration keeps skin plump and glowing. Don’t like drinking plain water? Add some lemon juice or Liquid IV Hydration Multiplier for a little flavor.
🥗 Eat Skin-Friendly Foods – Antioxidant-rich fruits, leafy greens, and healthy fats support skin health. Avacadoes are a great source of healthy fats. We also recommend adding fish (Salmon, Cod, Tuna Steak) for protein.
😴 Prioritize Sleep – Your skin repairs itself while you rest—aim for 7-9 hours. Can’t get a full nights rest? Try taking a mid-day nap.
🚶♀️ Exercise Regularly – Increases blood circulation, delivering oxygen and nutrients to your skin. We recommend walking at least 20 minutes a day. If you’re feeling a little ambitious, shoot for 45 minutes. Any movement is better than no movement.
🧘♀️ Manage Stress – High stress triggers breakouts and dullness; try meditation or deep breathing. Breathe in for 10 seconds, breathe out 10 seconds.
Glowing skin isn’t about perfection—it’s about care and consistency. By following a tailored skincare routine, using the right ingredients, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, you can achieve long-lasting radiance.
